WHAT IS SILVER CLAY

Silver clay is eco friendly, made from recycled silver

Silver clay is fine silver particles mixed with an organic binder and water

Silver Clay is pure silver which is made into a pliable material that can be textured, shaped, molded

Once dry pieces can be fired with a hand torch or kiln fired

Invented in Japan in the 1990s by Mitsubishi and Aida Chemical industries

There are several types of silver clay each having its only purpose

Lump Clay – can be rolled, textured, set into a mold

Paste (sometimes referred to as slip) – used to stick pieces together, to add texture and used to paint several layers onto a natural surface such as a leaf

Silver Paper – used to create techniques such a quilling and origami

Syringe Clay Decorative lines can be syringed (just like using a icing piping tool). Syringe clay can also be used to fill gaps and perform repairs
